Assessment is an ongoing element in my classes. I believe students should understand the summative assessment criteria. By doing so, students are more in control of their learning. They understand what is expected of them and can learn to become independent learners. Formative assessment is an essential aspect of my planning. Through reviews and group discussions, students learn to be more willing to offer advise to others and to accept feedback. Both of these are essential in developing the well-being of the student and in the progress of their project.
Below demonstrates the assessment criteria for a ceramics project based on Celtic Tiki Totems. It highlights a combination of both formative and summative assessment and the weight that is put on the evidence of both. |
